Mistaken-address shooting in Pyle linked to Bridgend gang retaliation over drug dispute

A 9mm pistol was fired into a family home in Pyle, Wales, missing its intended target; no one was injured.

In the early morning hours, a 9mm pistol was discharged through the front door of a residence in Pyle, striking a wall and a microwave while a woman and her son slept inside; neither suffered injuries. Prosecutors allege the attack was ordered by a Bridgend organised crime group as retaliation against alleged drug dealer Daniel O'Callaghan, who they believed had stolen drugs worth thousands of pounds from a Guernsey stash.

Jury-visible mobile-phone footage showed the gunfire and the perpetrators fleeing the scene. A carrier bag found in a shed at alleged gang member Kyle Long’s home contained a hoodie, gloves and face masks, with DNA matching Kian Darkes and Daniel Clarke and gunshot residue present. After the shooting, O'Callaghan messaged Darkes denying any wrongdoing. The accused, including Daniel Clarke, Kian Darkes, Kyle Long, Callum Pearson and Jade Evans, deny conspiracy charges, though some have admitted possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Why it matters

The case shows how gang retaliation can endanger innocent residents and underscores challenges in tackling organised crime.
