Mistral AI completes €3 billion financing round as it expands European AI operations

Mistral AI, the Paris‑based artificial‑intelligence startup founded by Arthur Mensch, Guillaume Lample and Timothée Lacroix, has closed a new €3 billion financing round, the largest ever for a privately held European technology company. The company, now employing roughly 1,000 people, is moving into a 24,000‑square‑metre headquarters in Paris’s 18th arrondissement. The latest raise follows three previous rounds since the firm’s launch in April 2023 and adds to an investor roster that already includes major technology and industrial players. Mistral says the funding will support the commercialization of its AI models and the build‑out of high‑performance computing infrastructure.
