MLA’s daughter accused of slapping police sub-inspector at Mandya temple, probe launched

Aishwarya, the daughter of Tumkur Rural MLA Suresh Gowda, was alleged to have abused and slapped Sub-Inspector Savitha during a temple crowd-control duty on Aug 12, and both parties have filed complaints.

On Aug 12, Sub-Inspector Savitha was assigned to manage devotees at the Aarathi Ukkada Temple in Srirangapatna as part of the Bhimana Amavasya celebrations. Around 4:30 pm, police escorted Aishwarya, the daughter of Tumkur Rural MLA Suresh Gowda, to the temple for darshan. After the prayers, Aishwarya allegedly insisted on entering the sanctum immediately, was asked to wait, and responded by verbally abusing and slapping Savitha.

The officer reported the assault and filed a complaint, while Aishwarya submitted a counter-complaint alleging that Savitha had abused her. Additional police personnel, including Inspector Lakshmi, were involved, and the matter is now being examined by Mandya SP V J Shobharani.
