Major League Baseball has returned to the iconic Field of Dreams location with a permanent stadium surrounding the original movie set in Dyersville, Iowa. The Minnesota Twins will host the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, using a 3,000-seat structure supplemented by temporary seating to hold about 8,000 spectators. The venue was funded through a state tourism grant and local donations, and its construction was overseen by Dyersville Events.
MLB senior vice president Jeremiah Yolkut praised the mix of rustic charm and added comforts, while Twins manager Derek Shelton invited fathers to share the experience with their sons. More than 25 Hall of Fame inductees are slated to be present, and a rain-delay plan would shift the game to Friday if needed.
