Mob attacks York College women in off-campus house during illegal street race

Female York College students were violently assaulted by a mob on their off-campus porch during an illegal street race in York, Pennsylvania.

On the early morning of Saturday, several York College of Pennsylvania women were attacked at their off-campus rental on the 300 block of West Jackson Street. After an illegal street race drew hundreds of spectators, a mob descended on the porch, dragging the students by their hair, punching, kicking and spraying mace, leaving at least one victim unconscious. Police were responding to a separate SWAT situation and only reached the scene after the assault, prompting the crowd to disperse without any arrests.

Victims reported multiple blows and bruises, and one father criticized the delayed police response. York College confirmed the assailants were not affiliated with the school and said it is working with city officials on safety. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Why it matters

The attack underscores student safety risks near campuses and questions police handling of large, unruly gatherings.
