Modders Deploy Leaked DLSS 5 AI Upscaling Across Multiple Games
A community of modders has extracted Nvidia's unreleased DLSS 5 code and applied it to titles such as Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA V and others.
Modders affiliated with the RenoDX Discord group uncovered the DLSS 5 “Neural Rendering” component hidden in an early-access version of NBA 2K27 and repurposed it for games like Control, Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA V and more. Video examples illustrate how toggling settings such as “Neural Uplift” changes character facial definition and overall lighting, while sliders can dramatically affect performance, cutting FPS from 90 to 29 in some cases.
Users report that swapping presets consumes a large amount of VRAM. Although the hack initially ran on RTX 50-series hardware, it has also been made functional on RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 GPUs. Reactions are mixed: some players appreciate the visual upgrades, while others criticize the effect as an artificial filter. Nvidia originally announced DLSS 5 in March, promising real-time photoreal lighting, and the official version is slated for release this fall.
