The Call of Duty: NEXT livestream on August 21 at 9 a.m. PT will precede the Modern Warfare 4 closed beta, which launches at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET) and runs until August 25 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET). A second, open beta starts on August 28 at 10 a.m. PT and ends September 1 at the same time. Gamers can secure early access by pre-ordering the game for a code, watching streamers who will hand out codes, or via giveaways on the author’s YouTube channel.
The beta is released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2, with the Switch version joining only the open weekend after a pre-load on August 26. Players must download a dedicated Modern Warfare 4 beta title from Steam, Battle.net, or the console stores; the PC version adds shader pre-loading and fewer restart-requiring updates. Week 1 offers multiplayer maps such as Rooftops and Kill Block, plus the campaign mission “Entrenched,” while Week 2 adds the Warzone Resurgence map and new modes like Combat Outpost. Rewards include operator skins, weapon blueprints and other cosmetics unlocked by reaching level 20 in the first weekend and level 30 in the second, all of which carry over to the full game releasing on October 23.
