Modi to unveil Chennai Metro extension and launch ₹13,000 crore development projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the Porur-Poonamallee stretch of Chennai Metro Phase II, launch more than ₹13,000 crore of development projects and dedicate a new brain research centre at IIT Madras.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch and dedicate development initiatives worth more than ₹13,000 crore in Chennai, highlighted by the inauguration of the Porur-Poonamallee stretch of Chennai Metro Phase II. Accompanied by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, he will travel the new 3.7-km double-decker metro segment, which incorporates advanced signalling for future driverless operation. At IIT Madras, Modi will open the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre, announcing a global effort to create three-dimensional cellular atlases of over 100 human brains and releasing the C-STROKE stroke atlas.
He will also lay foundation stones for multiple highway, railway, port and petroleum projects, and inaugurate five Amrit Bharat stations at Palani, Vellore Cantonment, Ambasamudram, Paramakudi and Namakkal. The itinerary includes a visit to Arulmigu Jalakandeswarar Temple and participation in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya school.
