Modi urges drug-free youth, local buying and women’s empowerment in 137th Mann Ki Baat

In his 137th Mann Ki Baat address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promoted a drug-free youth campaign, highlighted digital history projects and called for greater support of local products and women entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the 137th edition of Mann Ki Baat to showcase grassroots innovation, starting with a Mumbai entrepreneur’s digital platform that brings Indian history to life. He urged the nation to back the "Drug-Free Youth for Developed India" campaign, emphasizing the broader social harm of addiction. The address commemorated several August observances, including National Handloom Day and the Har Ghar Tiranga flag drive, while celebrating the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.

Modi highlighted the PM SVANidhi scheme, noting that about 46 percent of its beneficiaries—roughly 35 lakh women—are advancing small businesses. He praised sanitation workers on the Shri Amarnath pilgrimage and a Nagaland farmer, Vaishalu Puroji, who cultivated thousands of gladiolus with training from a Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The Prime Minister also announced Mission ShaktiSAT, offering satellite-technology education to 12,000 female students from 108 nations. Concluding, he called again for "Vocal for Local," urging citizens to prioritize Indian-made products in everyday purchases.
