Modi urges emergency response as Ganga water surpasses warning level in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the flood situation in Varanasi with District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar after the Ganga rose above the warning mark.

Modi told the district administration to act swiftly as the Ganga reached 70.54 metres at the Rajghat gauge, overtaking the 70.262-metre warning level. The river was climbing at about 2 cm per hour amid nonstop rain. He called for a "war-footing" effort to provide relief to affected residents.
