Modi urges Indians to complete digital Census 2027 and use online self-enumeration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the 138th episode of his Mann ki Baat radio show to urge nationwide participation in Census 2027, encouraging people to enter household information on a digital portal that supports 16 languages. He reported that the house-listing phase has captured data from more than 320 million families and is nearly finished across 31 states and Union territories, while enumeration continues in the mountainous regions of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The census, delayed from 2021 due to the pandemic, is India's first fully digital count, featuring a central monitoring system and web-based mapping of enumeration blocks. Modi also highlighted the Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan's drug-free pledges, the Round Glass Hockey Academy's effort to identify rural sporting talent, and the One District One Product initiative's amla processing units in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh. He mentioned nutrition drives in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Mizoram, and the Poshan Tracker's 90 million registered beneficiaries. The speech concluded with a reminder of the 2016 surgical strike and its 10-year anniversary, reinforcing a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
