Modi urges youth empowerment and cultural preservation as Chinmaya Mission marks centenary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for empowering young people and safeguarding India's cultural heritage while launching the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan in New Delhi.

In New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan, tying the Chinmaya Mission’s centenary to India’s ambition to achieve developed-nation status by 2047. He appealed to spiritual and cultural organisations to contribute to nation-building and social cohesion, emphasizing the need to address emerging challenges. Modi reminisced about his 1993 encounter with the mission’s founder Swami Chinmayananda, describing a technology-driven recreation of that meeting.

He praised a youth initiative that covered nearly 40,000 km in 300 days, engaging over 100,000 individuals. The prime minister also cited the recovery of more than 650 stolen artefacts and highlighted the role of the mission’s educational institutions in blending modern learning with Indian values. Concluding, he urged the mission’s global network to support India’s transformation toward a “Viksit Bharat.”
