Molly Carlson conquers fear with historic iceberg plunge in Newfoundland

Canadian high diver Molly Carlson became the first woman to jump off an iceberg, describing the feat as a triumph over fear.

Molly Carlson, known for daring high-diving stunts, achieved a new milestone by becoming the first woman to dive off an iceberg. After months of cold-water preparation and ice-climbing coaching from fellow Red Bull athlete Will Gadd, she identified a stable iceberg near Newfoundland and, in June, jumped from an estimated 14 metres into near-freezing water. The 30-minute documentary "Red Bull Iceberg Dive" captures the planning, the uncertainty of the iceberg’s stability, and Carlson’s battle with intrusive thoughts before the leap.

She described the moment of the back-flip as pure bliss and highlighted how embracing fear has helped her manage long-standing anxiety. Carlson, who also runs the Brave Gang community, hopes the stunt showcases Canadian nature and encourages others to face their fears.
