Monica Dolan headlines three films at Toronto International Film Festival, including Irish scandal drama
Actress Monica Dolan is featured in three separate films screening at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, one of which dramatizes the Tuam mass-grave investigation.
Monica Dolan is enjoying a rare festival run, with three of her films slated for Toronto International Film Festival screenings. The centerpiece is The Lost Children of Tuam, a drama produced by Liam Neeson and directed by Frank Berry, in which Dolan portrays Catherine Corless, the researcher who revealed that as many as 796 children were interred in unmarked graves at the Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, Ireland.
The movie premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in July, where it earned the best Irish film award, and will be featured in TIFF’s Centrepiece Program starting Sept. 13. The actress discussed her preparation, including accent coaching and time spent with the real Catherine Corless, highlighting the depth of her involvement across the three projects.
