Moody's cuts Poland's long-term foreign-currency rating to A3

Moody's lowered Poland's foreign-currency long-term rating from A2 to A3 and its short-term rating from Prime-1 to Prime-2, keeping the outlook stable.

Moody's Investors Service decided on Friday to downgrade Poland's long-term sovereign rating in foreign currency from A2 to A3, while also lowering the short-term rating from Prime-1 to Prime-2. The rating agency maintained a stable outlook despite the cuts. Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the President's Office, posted on X that specialists associated with Donald Tusk are bankrupting Poland's finances, emphasizing the political significance of the move.

He warned that the downgrade could make borrowing more expensive for health, security, education and investment sectors. This is the first downgrade of Poland's rating in 24 years, highlighting growing concerns about fiscal stability. The statement calls for a change in government by 2027 to address the perceived damage.
