MoonPay adds AI-driven crypto buying and lending to X's Grok chatbot

MoonPay revealed that its AI-enabled PayBox has been embedded in X's Grok chatbot, turning the conversational interface into a crypto wallet and payment hub. The globally accessible tool lets users conduct a range of blockchain transactions, including buying digital assets and lending USDC on Kamino, a Solana-based platform. In addition to crypto functions, Grok can arrange flights and restaurant bookings, with each transaction prepared by the AI and finalized by the user through a passkey.

The rollout follows recent moves by MoonPay to add crypto-lending capabilities via ChatGPT and Claude, though the new features are barred in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and Australia. This integration reflects a broader industry trend of embedding financial actions in AI agents, a shift championed by firms such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa and Mastercard. Elon Musk, X's owner and PayPal co-founder, has long advocated for expanding digital money use on the platform.
