Moonshot AI founders negotiate settlement with shareholder before Hong Kong IPO
Moonshot’s chief executive Yang Zhilin and CTO Zhang Yutao are in settlement talks with Recurrent.ai shareholders over alleged misconduct as the company prepares a Hong Kong listing.
Top executives of Moonshot, Yang Zhilin and Zhang Yutao, are engaged in settlement discussions with a Recurrent.ai shareholder who alleges false representations and self-enrichment at the company’s expense. The claim, outlined in a March 11 lawyer’s letter, accuses the duo of unauthorized creation of Moonshot, improper transfer of large-language-model data, and concealment of Zhang’s shareholding. The case is being arbitrated in Hong Kong and has been ongoing since 2024, with a separate Cayman Islands action also mentioned.
Moonshot has filed confidentially for a Hong Kong IPO, aiming to leverage its Kimi AI models and a valuation of about US$30 billion. While the dispute may raise ownership and disclosure questions for investors, insiders do not expect it to halt the listing. Regulators, including the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Chinese authorities, have declined comment.
