Moroccan football chief declares Casablanca will host 2030 World Cup final

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation and government minister, announced that the 2030 World Cup final will be held in Casablanca.

During a campaign event for the Authenticity and Modernity Party, Fouzi Lekjaa, who leads Morocco's football federation and serves as a budget minister, proclaimed that the 2030 World Cup final will take place in Casablanca's Bensliman district. He called on companies to channel investments into the area, arguing that future administrations must prioritize its development. The city is currently constructing the Grand Stadium Hassan II, intended to be the tournament's flagship venue and expected to be ready by 2028.

Lekjaa, credited with elevating Morocco's football profile and maintaining close relations with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and King Mohamed VI, presented the decision as a certainty rather than a wish. The statement aligns with Morocco's broader bid to co-host the World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
