Moroccan pop star Saad Lamjarred receives ten-year prison term on French appeal
Saad Lamjarred was sentenced to ten years in prison by a French appellate court for the 2016 rape and aggravated violence case.
In a closed-door hearing at the Assize Court of Appeal in Créteil, Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred was ordered to serve ten years in prison for a 2016 rape and aggravated violence offense in Paris. The appeal, which began on September 17 and was set to conclude on September 25, confirmed the earlier 2023 conviction that had originally carried a six-year term. Lamjarred, 41, appeared free while under judicial supervision and has repeatedly denied the accusations made by a woman identified as Laura P. The ten-year sentence pertains solely to the Paris hotel incident; Lamjarred also faces a separate five-year sentence from a May 2026 conviction for a 2018 rape near Saint-Tropez, which he is also appealing.
