Morrisons lifts UK store staff pay to £13.11 an hour from October 26

Morrisons confirmed that, effective Monday 26 October, hourly pay for its store workforce across the United Kingdom will rise to £13.11, up from one outlet £13 rate. The increase builds on earlier adjustments this year that took the rate from £12.21 to £12.71 in March and added a 19-pence rise in July. With a network of 2,200 locations—including 497 supermarkets and over 1,700 Morrisons Daily convenience stores—the retailer employs around 96,000 people, of whom about 81,000 are store staff.

Group People Director Jodie Keating said the raise rewards employees’ contributions and thanks them for their work. The decision arrives amid broader sector wage pressure, as competitors Lidl, Tesco, Aldi, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s have all announced higher entry-level pay rates. Morrisons previously cited cost pressures and competition as reasons for only meeting the minimum wage, but now commits further investment in staff remuneration.
