Morrisons reports 3.2% like-for-like sales growth in Q3

Morrisons said its like-for-like sales rose 3.2% in the quarter to July 26, pushing total revenue to £4.1 billion.

Morrisons announced that its comparable sales increased by 3.2% over the 13 weeks ending July 26, compared with the same period a year earlier, lifting total quarterly sales to £4.1 billion. The company said the rise was helped by hot weather and heightened consumer interest during the World Cup. Rami Baitieh said the growth was broad-based, with supermarkets, online channels, convenience outlets, pharmacy services and the Myton manufacturing division all posting gains.

He emphasized that the combination of lower prices and higher volumes, together with an improved market share, confirms the success of the retailer’s renewal and modernization strategy. The Bradford-based group expressed confidence that it remains on track with its turnaround plans.

Why it matters
