Most Treasury ministers disclose close relatives working in the Civil Service

Six of the seven Treasury ministers list a spouse, partner or family member employed by the Civil Service, according to the latest interests register.

The newly released List of Ministers’ Interests shows that John Healey, Lucy Rigby and Lord Pitt-Watson each have a civil-servant relative, while James Murray and Dan Tomlinson report a civil-servant partner, and Torsten Bell lists both. Emma Reynolds is the sole Treasury minister without such a connection. Across government, another 11 ministers, including Shabana Mahmood, Dame Diana Johnson and Baroness Ramsey, also declare civil-servant relatives. The disclosures raise questions about potential conflicts ahead of the upcoming budget.
