Mother arrested after children found dead in Kerala bathroom tub
Police in Kerala arrested a mother after her 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were discovered dead in a bathtub at their rented home.
Two young siblings, Jennifer Juliet, 5, and Robin Christopher, 3, were found dead in a water tub inside the bathroom of a rented house in Menonpara, Kozhinjampara, Kerala, on Tuesday morning. Their mother, Nivedya, told police she was busy with work and discovered the bodies after entering the bathroom. The children’s father, John Kumar, was away for work, and local residents expressed skepticism about Nivedya’s account.
After further questioning, Nivedya admitted to drowning the children, stating they were an obstacle to her desire for an independent life and a modeling career. A senior officer at the Kozhinjampara police station confirmed the confession and said a comprehensive investigation will proceed. Nivedya has been arrested on murder charges.
