Moto Guzzi unveils expanded Lake Como factory and museum, drawing thousands of fans
Thousands of Moto Guzzi enthusiasts gathered at the newly renovated headquarters on Lake Como as the brand unveiled its expanded factory and museum.
Moto Guzzi completed a five-year, more-than-€50 million overhaul of its Mandello del Lario headquarters on Lake Como, adding 5,500 m² of factory space and a new museum. The reopening coincided with the annual World Guzzi Days, drawing thousands of riders who arrived from Thursday onward to see the expanded facilities and take part in rides along the lakeside roads. Attendees, such as U.S. enthusiast Timothy Bennett, toured observation points where craftsmen continue to hand-assemble the iconic two-cylinder motorcycles, a process defended by Matteo Boddi of the Piaggio Group.
New automation belts and robotics now move parts and transport finished bikes, potentially raising annual production capacity to 30,000 units. Architect Greg Lynn said the site aims to welcome both devoted fans and curious visitors, while long-time club member Roland Rampnoux praised the brand’s distinctive design and community spirit.
Why it matters
The upgrade boosts Moto Guzzi’s production capacity and reinforces its heritage appeal, impacting the niche motorcycle market and regional tourism.
