Motorcyclist killed after swerving into lorry on Batang Kali road

A 60-year-old rider died after losing control and being run over by a lorry on Jalan Batang Kali-Ulu Yam while trying to avoid a pedestrian.

Hulu Selangor police chief Supt M. Manimaran reported that a 60-year-old motorcyclist died on Jalan Batang Kali-Ulu Yam after an accident at about 7 pm. The rider, coming from behind, tried to pass a lorry driven by a 45-year-old man bound for Penang on the right side. At the same moment a pedestrian stepped onto the road, prompting the motorcyclist to swerve, lose control and fall into the lorry’s trajectory.

The lorry subsequently ran over the victim, who was pronounced dead on site by medical staff. The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police have asked anyone with information to contact Insp Khairul Salleh Abdullah Rahman.
