Motorola launches premium Moto Watch Ultra with Wear OS and new features
Motorola has introduced the Moto Watch Ultra, a higher-priced smartwatch that runs Google’s Wear OS and includes NFC payments, AI assistants, and upgraded health tracking.
Motorola’s latest smartwatch, the Moto Watch Ultra, moves to Google’s Wear OS platform and is equipped with a Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chip. This shift grants access to a broader app ecosystem, seamless Android phone integration, and NFC payments via Google Wallet, alongside Gemini and Motorola’s Qira AI assistants. Health and fitness features are supplied by Polar, covering heart rate, sleep, stress, SpO2, and recovery, with an AI running coach.
The watch offers an IP68 rating, 5ATM water resistance, Gorilla Glass 3, and a 1.5-inch OLED display within a 46 mm stainless-steel case available in black or silver. Battery life is estimated at 50 hours with the always-on display off. At $349.99, the Moto Watch Ultra launches on September 10, roughly double the price of the prior Moto Watch but about half the cost of comparable ultra-class models from Apple and Samsung.
Why it matters
The launch shows Motorola’s shift to Wear OS, expanding the smartwatch market with a mid-range premium option.
