Motorola to debut GrapheneOS-compatible flagship phones in 2027 at premium prices

Motorola and GrapheneOS announced that new flagship devices will arrive in 2027, will not ship with the OS but will receive full support, and are expected to cost more than current Pixel models.

Motorola has confirmed a collaboration with the creators of GrapheneOS to launch a new line of flagship smartphones in 2027. While the phones will not be shipped with GrapheneOS pre-installed, Motorola will ensure the operating system is fully supported on the devices. This initiative expands the OS’s reach beyond Google’s Pixel phones, which have historically satisfied its strict hardware criteria for maximum privacy and security.

The upcoming Motorola models are described as premium flagships, with anticipated price points higher than the current Pixel series, whose base model starts at $900 and the top-end Pro XL costs $1,300. GrapheneOS offers features such as enhanced memory protection, detailed network permissions, customizable app sandboxing, and a duress code for data wiping. The announcement signals a broader market for privacy-centric mobile solutions.

Why it matters
