Moulin Rouge! grosses $2.3 million in its final Broadway week
The musical Moulin Rouge! earned $2.3 million during its closing week, the highest weekly total it has posted in several years.
In its last week on Broadway, Moulin Rouge! posted a $2.3 million gross, the strongest weekly haul for the production in several years and enough to fill the house beyond full capacity. Average ticket revenue reached $223.46, the highest per-seat price recorded across all shows that week. Aaron Tveit rejoined the cast for most of the performances, and several original members appeared during the final night.
The figure, though notable, remains below the $2.7 million earned over nine shows during the 2019 Christmas period. The musical outpaced other top-grossing shows, with Hamilton at $2 million, MJ at $1.7 million, The Lion King at $1.59 million, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at $1.57 million. Overall Broadway grosses rose about 4 percent from the previous week, with attendance up 2 percent.
