Mozilla rolls out Firefox redesign with rounded tabs, new themes and Compact Mode

Mozilla has launched a redesign of its Firefox browser that unifies the look of desktop and mobile versions with rounded tabs, a curved address bar and refreshed icons. Users can now choose from a dozen new color themes, each offering light and dark variants, and a selection of wallpapers. The company emphasizes that the visual changes will not compromise speed or performance.

Alongside the aesthetic update, Firefox 157 reintroduces Compact Mode, which reduces the size of tabs and toolbars to maximize web-page visibility, and includes an auto-compact setting for devices with limited screen real estate. This rollout follows a series of recent feature additions, including home-page widgets, Split View, an integrated VPN and options to disable AI functions, while still supporting the Smart Window AI mode launched earlier this year.
