MP Kaprinyák Tibor steps down from the Live Environment Committee amid hunting photo scandal

Kaprinyák Tibor has left the Live Environment Committee after the Tisza-faction’s ethics panel reviewed his hunting photographs posted online.

Andrea Bujdosó, leader of the Tisza-faction, reported on Facebook that the faction’s ethics committee has decided Kaprinyák Tibor will resign from the Live Environment Committee. The decision came after the committee examined several online photos showing the lawmaker with animals he had shot during overseas hunting trips, a hobby that was not new to his public image. Kaprinyák, who entered the Országgyűlés via the party list, had been serving as deputy chair of the committee.

Minister of Environment Gajdos László previously noted receiving thousands of inquiries about the photos and condemned all violence against animals. He reiterated that hunting is far from his personal values. The Tisza-faction will determine later which parliamentary committee Kaprinyák will join next.

Why it matters

The resignation reflects parliamentary accountability for a lawmaker’s controversial hunting activities and may affect committee work on wildlife policy.
