On Friday, MP Mahua Moitra of the Trinamool Congress shared on X that she received a phone call at 9:47 p.m. from the Additional District Magistrate of Nadia, instructing her to leave the circuit house where she was staying overnight. She described the request as audacious and appealed to other opposition MPs and leaders to recognize the attempt to exclude them from the district. The incident came after Moitra appeared at the Nadia police station around 2 p.m. to cooperate with a hate-speech case, a meeting arranged by the Calcutta High Court.
She left the station about an hour later. The episode highlights friction between the elected representative and local administration in her home district.
