MPSEA urges clearer rules and faster approvals to boost green investment
The Malaysian Photovoltaic and Sustainable Energy Industry Association is pressing for clearer guidelines and quicker regulatory approvals after the budget extended green-technology tax incentives to 2030.
The Malaysian Photovoltaic and Sustainable Energy Industry Association has asked the government to issue clearer implementation guidelines and accelerate regulatory approvals to speed up renewable-energy investment after the 2027 Budget. The association praised the extension of green-technology tax incentives—investment allowances of up to 100 % for qualifying projects—through December 2030, viewing it as a confidence-builder for investors.
MPSEA president Ir Ts Justin Sim stressed that financial incentives must be paired with coordinated action among regulators, utilities and industry players. He called for precise eligibility criteria, stronger backing for battery energy-storage systems, faster grid-connection processes, and improved financing options for small- and medium-size enterprises and domestic renewable firms. Sim also welcomed the budget’s RM15 billion allocation for upgrading the national electricity grid, deeming it essential for accommodating more renewables while maintaining reliability. He concluded that a supportive policy environment and active industry participation are crucial for advancing Malaysia’s energy transition.
