MTA construction flagger killed by D train on Bronx subway tracks
Construction flagger Moet McCullum was fatally struck by a D train while working on the southbound tracks at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station.
Moet McCullum, a 41-year-old MTA construction flagger and mother of three, was killed after a D train collided with her on the southbound tracks at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station in the Bronx late Thursday night. She had been on the tracks at approximately 11:30 p.m. when the train arrived. MTA NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow confirmed the incident is being investigated and visited the hospital and the site, offering thoughts and prayers to McCullum’s family.
The Transport Workers Union Local 100 expressed deep sadness and asked the public to keep her family and fellow workers in their thoughts. The tragedy follows previous fatal accidents involving MTA flaggers, including the 2023 death of Hilarion Joseph and a 2024 incident in Brooklyn where a flagger suffered a serious head injury.
