Mulberry reports 18% sales jump as turnaround gains momentum

Mulberry said group sales rose 18% in the 26 weeks to September 26, driven by strong demand for new bags and a rebound in UK and wholesale channels.

Mulberry announced that its group sales climbed 18% over the 26-week period to September 26 compared with the previous year, despite a challenging macro environment. The boost came from strong consumer demand for both seasonal items and core fashion lines, notably the newly introduced Raffia, Crochet and Stevie bags. UK sales grew 10% on a half-year basis, with like-for-like figures up 9%, while the franchise and wholesale segment saw a 52% increase.

Chief executive Andrea Baldo said the performance reflects the turnaround strategy launched early last year, which emphasizes product focus, brand desirability and disciplined cost management. He highlighted the encouraging rise in full-price sales and noted a solid pipeline of products for the second half of the fiscal year.

Why it matters

The sales surge signals Mulberry's turnaround is working, improving its financial outlook and market confidence.
