Multinational MEDUSA 15 Drill Transforms Eastern Mediterranean into High-Tech War Zone
The MEDUSA 15 - 2026 exercise concluded with naval, air and drone operations across Maleme, the Myrtoou Sea and south of Carpathus, involving Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, France, Italy and several observer nations.
MEDUSA 15 - 2026 wrapped up with a series of complex operations in the Maleme region of Crete, the Myrtoou Sea and the waters south of Carpathus, turning the Eastern Mediterranean into a live-fire training ground. The exercise brought together armed forces from Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, France and Italy, with Serbia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Mozambique acting as observers. Participants conducted amphibious landings, naval engagements involving frigates, missile-armed boats, corvettes, submarines and helicopter carriers, as well as air, anti-submarine and amphibious missions.
A central focus was the integration of modern unmanned aerial systems, including UAVs and first-person-view drones, and the deployment of Greece’s Counter-UAS "Centaur" to counter swarm attacks. The event underscores a shift toward incorporating lessons from recent conflicts into regional defence training.
