Multiple gunmen open fire in Chicago's Humboldt Park, leaving seven injured and one dead
Seven people were shot, including a fatality, after gunmen fired from vehicles in Chicago's Humboldt Park on Sunday.
In the early afternoon on Sunday, multiple gunmen drove into Chicago's Humboldt Park and opened fire, discharging roughly 60 rounds. The volley struck seven individuals, killing an as-yet-unidentified man and wounding six others, including a 14-year-old boy who is expected to survive. A female driver involved in the incident collided with a CTA bus as a result of the gunfire.
Law enforcement reported that one of the alleged shooters, described as a Black male in a black hoodie over a white shirt, may have suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car during the getaway. The suspects have not been apprehended, and the investigation continues. The shooting adds to Chicago's 2026 death toll, which has reached 298.
