Mumbai's property market recorded 12,401 registrations in August, up 11% compared with the same month a year ago, according to figures from the Maharashtra department of registrations and stamps compiled by Knight Frank India. The firm projects the total could approach 12,500 before the close of business. Knight Frank India CMD Shishir Baijal highlighted continued buyer demand for projects with strong infrastructure and prime locations.
Real estate experts, including Jason Samuel of House of Swamiraj, said the trend reflects confidence among end users and a preference for home ownership, though they warned developers must improve execution on stalled projects. The data underscores the resilience of the city's housing sector amid elevated property values.
