Mumbai tops India's list, beats London and Miami in Work-From-Anywhere ranking

Mumbai has become the only Indian city featured in IWG's 2026 Work From Anywhere Index, achieving a score of 77 and ranking above cities such as London and Miami. The index, now in its fourth year, assesses locations on criteria like climate, internet speed, accommodation, transport, food, culture and the presence of flexible workspaces. Mumbai performed well in transport affordability, coworking availability, climate and housing, but received lower marks for broadband quality, local events and happiness measures.

The city's inclusion coincides with India's leading position in flexible office maturity, surpassing the UK, France and the United States, and holding the largest flexible office stock in the Asia-Pacific region. IWG's related research indicated that 51% of surveyed workers already enjoy a Work From Anywhere policy, with most reporting better work-life balance and productivity. The study also found that many employees would consider changing jobs for stronger remote-work options, and a sizable share plan to extend vacations by working remotely.
