Munax pulls several egg brands from shelves over salmonella contamination

Egg producer Munax is recalling specific cartons of its branded eggs after a supplier farm tested positive for salmonella.

Munax has initiated a recall of certain egg packages after authorities detected salmonella at a farm that supplies the company. The affected products include Kotimaista Ulko M10, Laitilan Kanatarha Ulko L6 and L10, and Pirkka Ulko M8, each listed with specific EAN numbers. Only eggs bearing the imprint 1FI15493 and bearing a best-before date of 28.10 or earlier are covered. The company recommends that shoppers throw the recalled eggs away as mixed waste, noting that cooking above 70 °C destroys the bacteria. Munax stated the recall is limited to the contaminated batch and that cooked eggs remain safe to eat.

Why it matters

Consumers need to avoid potentially contaminated eggs to prevent salmonella infection.
