Murder charge filed after body found in Clarkefield linked to Wildwood shooting
Police upgraded the charge against a man accused of shooting a Wildwood resident to murder after human remains were discovered nearby.
During a dispute at a residence in Wildwood on August 19, police allege Mohammed Aboueid shot 37-year-old Khaled Malas, after which Malas was reported missing. A large search operation concluded last Wednesday when human remains were located on Havelock Road in Clarkefield, roughly 15 kilometres from Wildwood. Following the discovery, prosecutors upgraded Aboueid's charge from intentionally causing serious injury to murder.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court in November. Community members remembered Malas as a modest, diligent person who was deeply respected and supported a young family.
