Murder probe opened after fatal blaze injures eight in Hounslow residence

A fire at a Hounslow home killed a 48-year-old woman and injured seven others, prompting a murder investigation.

At around 01:14 BST, firefighters and ambulance crews were dispatched to a residential property on Berkley Avenue in Hounslow after reports of a fire. Nine people - six men and three women - were hospitalized; a 48-year-old woman later died and a 40-year-old woman is in a life-threatening state, while the remaining seven were released after treatment for minor injuries. Detectives, led by Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, have opened a murder investigation, stating the blaze may have been intentionally started.

No suspects have been arrested so far, and investigators are working to determine the exact cause. The Metropolitan Police emphasized support for the victim’s family and the injured, and said they will maintain a presence in the area as the inquiry proceeds.
