Musician Jonathan Melendez and Family Murdered in Luxury Penthouse Shooting
A Mexican composer, his pregnant wife, their toddler, a live-in worker and the family dog were bound and shot dead in a high-end penthouse, while their 6-year-old son survived.
In an upscale residential area outside Mexico City, a brutal homicide left composer Jonathan Melendez, his pregnant spouse Ana Paola, their three-year-old daughter, a 21-year-old housekeeper and the family dog bound with duct tape and shot dead. Their six-year-old son was discovered at the scene alive and uninjured. Neighbors heard shouts and gunfire on Tuesday night, and bodies were found just before midnight.
The State of Mexico prosecutor's office announced the arrest of two suspects, including a person who had previously accessed the apartment through his connection with Melendez. The victims were shot multiple times, with the toddler hit in the head at close range. Melendez performed with the synth-pop and indie band Camilo Septimo, which had a concert scheduled in Ciudad Juarez later this month.
