The first volume has attracted more than 1,000 Amazon reviews and a 4.7-star rating, with some reviewers claiming it opened their eyes to uncomfortable truths.
Critics highlight the books' promotion of a hostile view toward women and the suggestion that men should forgo relationships and family. Gaines discussed his personal "one-way monogamy" dynamic with girlfriend Angie in the Netflix documentary "Inside the Manosphere," a relationship that reportedly ended.
