Naomi Watts to Receive San Sebastián Festival's Donostia Honor in September
British actress Naomi Watts will be presented with the Donostia Award at the 74th San Sebastián Film Festival in September, where she will also introduce the film “The Housewife.”
At the upcoming 74th San Sebastián Film Festival, British-born actress Naomi Watts is slated to receive the Donostia Award, the event’s top honor, on Saturday, Sept. 19. The festival praised her ability to move between independent cinema and large-scale productions on both screen and television, citing standout roles in “Mulholland Drive,” “21 Grams,” and “The Impossible,” each earning her Academy Award nominations. In conjunction with the award, Watts will present the festival’s screening of “The Housewife,” the first feature by Canadian director Ben Shirinian, starring Tye Sheridan, Luke Evans, Michael Imperioli and Lena Olin.
The film, set in 1964 and based on true events, follows a young journalist tracking a suspected Nazi officer in New York and befriending his wife. The festival runs from Sept. 18 through Sept. 26, also honoring Werner Herzog with a Donostia Award announced earlier in August.
