Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay to undergo heart ablation surgery, says he is fine
Scott McTominay confirmed he will have a cardiac arrhythmia ablation in the coming days and expects to return after the international break.
Napoli released a statement confirming that Scott McTominay will undergo a cardiac arrhythmia ablation (PFA) after being diagnosed with a mild benign arrhythmia. The 29-year-old midfielder reassured fans at the Gran Gala Del Calcio that the operation had been scheduled in advance and that he feels fine. He will be sidelined for a few weeks, missing four fixtures that include games against Inter Milan, Arsenal in the Champions League, Bologna and Fiorentina.
McTominay, who transferred from Manchester United for £25 million in 2024 and was named Serie A Player of the Year for 2025, said contract talks are not a priority at the moment. Coach Max Allegri noted McTominay has also been dealing with a separate fitness issue involving blisters. The club expects the player to be available again after the international break.
