NASA paints former Air Force 737 for lunar-gravity testing program
NASA has newly painted a former Air Force 737 in Oklahoma as it prepares the aircraft for reduced-gravity flights supporting Artemis lunar-suit tests.
The agency took possession of the 737 from the United States Air Force in June and is now applying a fresh paint scheme at a facility in Oklahoma. Once modified, the plane will conduct parabolic flights that simulate moon-gravity to validate astronaut suits and related crew systems for the Artemis missions. These operations will be coordinated from Johnson Space Center in Houston under the oversight of NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center.

The aircraft will enable critical testing of lunar suits and autonomous flight tech essential for upcoming Artemis missions.
