NASA postpones Crew-13 launch after detecting oxidizer leak on SpaceX Dragon
NASA and SpaceX have pushed back the Crew-13 launch after engineers found an oxidizer leak in the Dragon spacecraft’s propulsion system.
A leak in the oxidizer feed of SpaceX’s Dragon capsule was discovered during standard processing, prompting NASA to delay the Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station. Engineers from both NASA and SpaceX are performing further diagnostics and will carry out any necessary repairs before the spacecraft is cleared for flight. The four-person crew—NASA’s Jessica Watkins (commander) and Luke Delaney (pilot), Canada’s Joshua Kutryk, and Russia’s Sergey Teteryatnikov—are slated to join Expedition 75 once they arrive.
The launch, originally planned from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral on a Falcon 9, now lacks a revised date. The astronauts will begin quarantine at Johnson Space Center in Houston about two weeks before the flight. NASA will announce a new schedule once testing and any required work are completed.
