NASA to Live-Stream SpaceX Crew-12 Undocking and California Splashdown
NASA plans to broadcast the Crew-12 mission’s departure from the ISS on Oct. 7 and its splashdown off California on Oct. 8, weather permitting.
NASA and SpaceX have scheduled the Crew-12 Dragon capsule to separate from the International Space Station on Oct. 7, with the earliest undocking time set at 8:05 a.m. EDT, contingent on spacecraft readiness, recovery team status and Pacific weather. The four-person crew—NASA’s Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev—will then begin a return trajectory that includes a deorbit burn at 10:46 a.m. EDT on Oct. 8.
NASA will provide live video coverage of the undocking, deorbit and splashdown, as well as audio-only communications while the Dragon drifts away from the station. The capsule is expected to splash down in the Pacific near California at roughly 11:34 a.m. EDT on Oct. 8. A post-mission briefing at 1:15 p.m. will feature NASA’s Bill Spetch and Liz Warren, SpaceX senior mission manager Lee Echerd, and ESA’s Andreas Mogensen, with media participation arranged through NASA’s Johnson newsroom.
