National Unity Ministry seeks RM550.7 million in Budget 2027 for six nation-building programmes
The National Unity Ministry will ask for RM550.7 million in the 2027 budget to fund six initiatives aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s shared identity and social harmony.
At a press event in Kuala Lumpur, the National Unity Ministry’s minister, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, said the ministry will seek RM550.7 million in the upcoming 2027 budget to implement six key nation-building programmes. These programmes target areas such as National Unity and Identity, Community Harmony, heritage projects like Ini Warisan Kita, digitalisation of national treasures, upgrades to unity-related premises and matching grants for museums, archives and libraries.
The request will be presented to the Finance Minister for discussion. Aaron highlighted that the 2026 budget had provided RM136 million for related activities, including RM55 million each for community harmony and unity projects, plus smaller allocations for kindergartens, museum grants and cultural initiatives. He noted that the success of the new programmes depends on the approval of the proposed funding.
