In Dharashiv district, Maharashtra, a 30-year-old national-level wrestler took her own life, resulting in the deaths of her five-year-old son and one of her twin two-year-old daughters; the remaining twin is hospitalized in critical condition. The woman had been residing with her parents for the past three months following a conflict with her husband and his family. Her father lodged a police complaint alleging that the husband and his relatives repeatedly demanded money, gold and an auto-rickshaw, continuing harassment even after she moved home.
Police have registered a case against the husband, his father, his mother and his paternal aunt, and have detained the husband and father-in-law for questioning. Investigators say the inquiry is ongoing.
